Ear piercing

I’m thinking of getting the upper part of my ear pierced (the cartilege), and I had a couple of questions:

1) Which ear should I get pierced? I know guys have a superstition about one ear being “the gay ear” and so on. Is it the same for girls?

2) Does anyone know a good place to get it done? Hopefully clean and not too dear. I’d prefer sleepers, but I’ll make do with studs.

If your right handed get your left ear pierced & left handed vice versa. I base this theory on which ear your more likely to hold a phone to and piercing the opposite ear.

Shadow I thought the left ear meant you were gay, or maybe it means you’re a pirate. So it’s either ahoy there me hearties or throw me a boy :)

Hey Nebsy, Dont go too cheap will you. I know of someone who was suffering migraines. For a couple of weeks she was so ill, and one day, she removed the earing she had had peirced at the top of her ear.so that she could sleep better…..headache went. Story goes, they peirced it on a nerve.
So I know times can be a bit tough. But do spend the extra couple of dollars and go somewhere reputable. My neice just had her nose pierced at hair house wharehouse. She was happy.

So let me see if I can remember this urban myth… if you have your left ear pieced you are straight, if it’s the right ear you are gay and if it is both ears you are a gypsy!!!

What a enormous, pile of steaming effluent! This appears to be a myth perpetuated by homophobic males who are afraid that their latent sexual preferences may be reveled in public by their body jewelry.

Not a pirate, and definitely not gay- although am very cheerful.

Most empahticaly, as of about 30 years ago when my ear was pierced, right is - as a row of tents.

Mmm - when I went to a defensive driving course we were told that if you see an indicator on you should take it as a sign that - this person has their indicator on and you need more information to discern whether or not they are actually going to change lanes or turn a corner. In the same sense I think the most you can conclude from someone having their left / right ear pierced is that they have their left / right ear pierced!! Sexual orientation discussions may have to be undertaken to deduce any more details - if you are interested. Make no assumptions I always think.

IN regards to the upper ear piercing - (Back on topic!) - make sure you go somewhere reputable because there are risks. I used to work in a pharmacy many years ago and it is possible - though very unlikely - that if a nerve is pierced the cartilage can shrivel. ALso, you need to make sure you keep the piercing clean and disinfected - because it is not in the fleshy part of the ear if you are unlucky enough to get a bad infection antibiotics are not as effective due to the lack of blood flow to the cartilage. Just what I was told by our resident pharmacists of the day.

Is it really necessary to undergo such procedure? I’d save my cash.

Dead right, Envirogirl. Why bother? A waste of money. So many people walking round with piercings and rings and studs and bits of metal all over their bods - and living off the taxpayer.

Why get another ear piercing? Here are my 2 good reasons.

    1) My aunt was stuck for what to get me for my birthday, and she doesn’t like to give vouchers because we never spend them. This way, she could get me something I really like. = 2 people happy.

    2) The fee for the piercing and the cost of the earrings keeps people employed. Employment improves self-esteem. Employment also actually prevents people living off the taxpayer.

Except for people who ARE actually living off welfare, don’t feel guilty about spending money that you worked for, even on luxuries like piercings, lattes, perfumes etc. It keeps the economy strong, and keeps people off the dole. And it makes you feel good. (”I enjoy life, therefore I am”)
